Guangdong reacher than some contries
An increasing number of provinces in China are richer than some countries, according to a blue paper published Sunday by China's top think tank.
China's Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) published its annual Economic Competitiveness Report of China's Provinces and Regions (2008-2009). For the first time, CASS compares the overall GDP and per capita GDP of Chinese regions with 18 G20 members excluding China and the European Union (EU), said Li Jianping, editor of the blue paper.
Guangdong province, China's economic powerhouse neighboring Hong Kong, led Chinese regions in overall gross domestic product (GDP) in 2008, followed by Shandong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces in east China, said the blue paper.
Compared to the 18 G20 nations, Guangdong ranked 16th in terms of overall GDP, surpassing Saudi Arabia, Argentina and South Africa. Shandong and Jiangsu surpassed Argentina and South Africa, and Zhejiang topped South Africa.
In terms of per capita GDP, Shanghai ranked 12th in comparison with the 18 G20 countries, better than Turkey, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia and India. Tianjin ranked 15th and Beijing 16th.
China is now a big industrialized nation and should try to become an industrialized power in the next step, Huang Qunhui, a researcher with CASS, said Sunday.
G20 members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, the European Union, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.
The more you smoke, the lower your IQ
NEW YORK: Cigarette smokers have lower IQs than non-smokers, and the more they smoke, the lower their IQ, according to a study of over 20,000 Israeli military recruits.
Dr Mark Weiser and colleagues from Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer found that young men who smoked a pack of cigarettes a day or more had IQ scores 7.5 points lower than non-smokers.
"Adolescents with poorer IQ scores might be targeted for programs designed to prevent smoking," they conclude in the journal Addiction.
While there is evidence for a link between smoking and lower IQ, many studies have relied on intelligence tests given in childhood, and have also included people with mental and behavioral problems, who are both more likely to smoke and more likely to have low IQs, Weiser and his team noted.
To better understand the smoking-IQ relationship, the researchers looked at 20,211 18-year-old men recruited into the Israeli military.
The group did not include anyone with major mental health problems, because these individuals are disqualified from military service.
According to the researchers, 28 percent of the study participants smoked at least one cigarette a day, around 3 percent said they were ex-smokers, and 68 percent had never smoked.
The smokers had significantly lower intelligence test scores than non-smokers, and this remained true even after the researchers accounted for socioeconomic status measured by how many years of formal education a recruit's father had completed.
The average IQ for non-smokers was about 101, while it was 94 for men who had started smoking before entering the military.
IQ steadily dropped as the number of cigarettes smoked increased, from 98 for people who smoked one to five cigarettes daily to 90 for those who smoked more than a pack a day.
IQ scores from 84 to 116 are considered to indicate average intelligence.
Recruits aren't allowed to smoke while intelligence tests are administered, the researchers said, so it is possible that withdrawal symptoms might affect smokers' scores.
To address this issue, they also looked at IQ scores for men who were non-smokers when they were 18 but started smoking during their military service.
These men also scored lower than never-smokers, 97 points, on average) "indicating that nicotine withdrawal was probably not the cause of the difference," the researchers said.
The researchers also compared IQs for 70 pairs of brothers in the group in which one brother smoked and the other did not. Again, average IQs for the non-smoking sibling were higher than for the smokers.
The findings suggest that lower IQ individuals are more likely to choose to smoke, rather than that smoking makes people less intelligent, Weiser and his team conclude.

Hasheem Thabeet be strong and courageous
It should have come to the surprise of no one surprise that Hasheem Thabeet, demoted to the Developmental League Thursday, has struggled mightily in his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies.
When Thabeet arrived at UConn three years ago, he had trouble making an uncontested layup and the Huskies effectively played the season four on five at the offensive end. By his third and final year, he was merely a serviceable offensive player. Everyone in the NBA knew he was a massive project and in truth, he was always a guy you thought might have a chance to make his mark by his third season in the NBA ... if his work ethic caught up to his extraordinary gift on the defensive end.
With ridicule coming down heavily on Thabeet and the Grizzlies, this is a defining moment for the 7-3 center from Tanzania. He either finds the pride and motivation to excel, or he’s destined to a life in the same sentence with Kwame Brown and Darko Milicic.
Some people are criticing Thabeet for falling from NBA to D-league,of ource as a super star everybody would like to say anything whatever they wish good or bad as himself he call them as haters.
Remember Tigger wood the way media did to him, so Hasheem dont be angry on people but try to listen and make follow up on what they say as i believe some of their advice are for ur well-being.

Ni mtazamo wangu kama hawa mafisadi wa elimu kama wataachiwa nchi yetu haitafika popote zaidi ya kudidimia zaidi ya hata ilipo sasa.
Ndo maana tunaona mikataba mibovu karibu kila sekita kumbe mikataba mingine sio kosa lao bali ni ukosaji wa elimu husika katika kuongoza sekta hizo nyeti.

Tanzania changes will depend on the most creative and talented young people
Tanzanian changes will depends on Tanzanian themselves(debate)

Tanzania changes will depends on the most creative and talented young people,rather than rely on politicians or who will be a president.
As president has his part however he will never make a big difference if the given society were sleeping, I say the society is sleeping because even when they see some gabbages instead of taking and put in a proper place they complain of government,we see somebody is destroying the road instead of taking an action and report to the specific department we complain of the government ..governmnet ? I believe a lot of things they are source of our laziness and wait to be done by government leaders.Let us play our part and the government will do its best. The most surprising is that those who complain on everything without even taking an action some are graduates,bussines workers who are in big cities, so what about those illiterate and villagers? what will they say?
Let us stop complains and concentrate on solving those problems.
I say Tanzania depends on young and most talented people because our development will neither depends on foreigner investors nor depends on foreigner donners.I do not mean that we dont need them, no, we need them in a strategic manner.
Foreigner investers are key to any development economy but such nation shall never rely on, this is due to the fact that despite of their massive investment they can leave the country at any time and the good example we saw during the economic downturn(crisis) the way a lot of foreigner investors withdrew their money and flew back to their country,this tell us that the domestic investors are better than those even though alway never get good treatment policy from the government.
On my thinking if a talented and young Tanzanian will realise their roles many changes will be done. As they are the holder of everything in the society Im very confident and very enthusiastic that we are able to make a big different in Tanzania.
For me as among of them I'll do whatever I can to make it done.
I call upon all young Tanzanian wherever they are to rise up and realize that this is our time, we can no longer leave fisadis to continue to lead us while we can do it.
I know may young creative and talented Tanzanians are already disappointed on many government policy and some just saying "we are observers" .Remember If we can not rise and cooperate our selves nothing will be done, but if we join together will move forward and be like other emerging countries such as China, India and Brazil.
If consider China for example, about 80 percent of its Scientist they have been abroad(returnees)and are the one driving the development and success of China in almost each aspect like High -tech,engineer, computer,high way,medical sciences etc.
Remember our heroes such as Nkwame nkrumah, JK Nyerere ,Martin LK ,Nelson Mandela etc who struggled and sacrificed their life to African people while dreaming to have the so called United States of Africa, however their dreams didn’t yied(succumb) more fruits as they expected maybe due to social, politics, economics and cultural differences btn those leaders.
I do remember JK Nyerere spoke after declaring an Independence in 1961 he said Tanzanian have 3 enemies which are poverty, illiteracy and diseases. Its about 50 yrs now since that time Africa is still facing the same problem and even worsen than before, where are we going? are we backsliding or have we slept? Its very shame seeing very little progress in terms of economy in African countries inspite of having plenty of minerals and other resources. This is the 5th year in china I’ve learned a lot ,how Chinese are serious and very patriotic that they are ready even to refuse to buy anything made abroad.Their hardship and patriotism have taught me that “impossible is just something you can not do” “and nothing is what you can not think”.
We have to keep in mind that it's not just about the numbers of people who died; it's also the manner which many of these victims met their deaths.
For some reason, I seem to be bothered whenever I see acts of injustice and assaults on people's civil liberties. I imagine what I write in the future will follow in that vein. Whether it's fiction or non-fiction
I believe that a better Tanzania is yet to come but very near than we started.

Nigerian vice president will continue to lead nation
Nigerian Acting President Goodluck Jonathan will continue to lead the West African country while President Umaru Yar'Adua recovers, according to agencies' reports on Wednesday.
The reports quoted a statement from presidential spokesman Olusegun Adeniyi as saying that Jonathan will go on to serve as acting president.
"While the President completes his recuperation,Vice President Jonathan will continue to oversee the affairs of state," it added.
The announcement came after ailing Nigerian President Yar' Adua returned to the country on early Wednesday after three months in Saudi Arabia.
The president is now in the intensive care unit built inside in the Presidential Villa in Abuja, a source has said.
Yar' Adua left Abuja on Nov. 23, 2009. He is said to be suffering from acute pericarditis and failed to transmit written information to the National Assembly to empower his deputy to act in his stead.
Jonathan had assumed as acting president of the country earlier this month.
The development came after The acting president has committed to a free and fair elections in the 2011.
Jonathan gave the assurance when he received visiting former U. S. president George W. Bush on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in the capital Abuja.
The Nigerian federal government would work towards ensuring that the electoral process was transparent and reflected the wishes of Nigerians, he said.

TUTATUMA WAGONJWA NJE YA NCHI HADI LINI

Ni miaka mingi sana wakati nikiwa kijana mdogo nilikuwa nikisikia tu kuwa wagonjwa Fulani wenye magonjwa mbalimbali wanapelekwa nje ya nchi kwa ajiri ya matibabu, aidha katika kipindi hicho katika mawazo yangu mafinyu nilijua kuwa Tanzania haina madaktari wakutibu magonjwa hayo au hakuna vipimo husika.
Kweli sana tuko karne ya 21 na taifa letu likiwa linasherehekea uhuru wake wa karibu miaka 50 lakini kila mwaka ninaendelea kusukia kuwa wagonjwa wanapelekwa nje ya nchi kutibiwa kama India na nchi zingine.Maswali yangu ni mengi sana ila siwezi kuyaandika yote katika hii makala moja ila yananipa wasiwasi sana wa hii nchi yangu Tanzania kwani ni aibu sana kwa taifa kutuma wagonjwa nje ya nchi kila mwaka utafikiri taifa halina madaktari .
Moja, je tatizo hakuna madaktari wa magonjwa hayo husika? Au je tatizo ni la hao madaktari kutojiamini na wanalofanya?Nasema hivyo nikimaanisha kuwa kama ni madaktari nauhakika kabisa wapo na wanaweza kabisa kutibu au kufanya upasuaji wa wagonjwa husika. Nakubaliana kipindi cha nyuma kulikuwa na upungufu sana wa madaktari wa upasuaji wa magonjwa ya moyo( cardio surgeon) lakini kuna madaktari zaidi ya 100 walimaliza masomo yao miaka miwili iliyopita nchini India na sasa wapo hapo hospitali ya Taifa ambao walikuwa wameandaliwa maalumu ili kuanzishwa kwa huduma za upasuaji wa moyo Muhimbiri.
Sasa bado kuna haja gani ya kupeleka wagonjwa nje ya nchi?
Pili, Inawezekana wakasema tatizo ni vyombo vya huduma vya magonjwa husika labda havipo nchini mfano MRI,CT,Laparascopy,Endoscopy,and other Radiological Imaging.Kweli vyombo vingi vya kisasa ni gharama sana na hiyo ndo inayosababisha gaharama kubwa za matibu sababu kabla ya kupata diagnosis lazima kwanza upitie vipimo husika.Hivi vifaa nauhakika kabisa kwa mahospitali makubwa kama Mhimbili,Bugando, KCMC n.k vyote vipo labda kwa new generation vinaweza kukosa.
Hata kama havipo je serikari na wizara husika inamalengo gani? Je Tanzania itaendelea kuwa nchi ya kutuma wagonjwa kila mwaka nje ya nchi? Je mnatambua kuwa gharama za mamilioni manazotumia kila mwaka kutuma wagonjwa nje ya nchi si zaidi ya miaka miwili vifaa vyote mhimu vingeweza kununuliwa?na watu hao kuendelea kutibiwa nyumbani kwa gharama nafuu kabisa?
Tatu, Kwa nini tuwe wategemezi kila siku au ni kutojiamini kwetu ndo kunakosababisha haya yote ?
Kama hakuna mda maalum wa kusitishwa kutuma wagonjwa nje,basi hili litakuwa ni dili la watu wakubwa maana kila wanapotuma wagonjwa kunakuwa na percentage yao wanayopata kwa hiyo kazi hii itakuwa ni ya kudumu,hata kama kuna madaktari na vifaa vya kutosha bado wagonjwa watapelekwa nje ya nchi.
Hii ni aibu sana kwa nchi na madaktari nchini kwani inaonyesha kuwa tatifa zima halina madaktari bingwa wakuweza kutibu wagonjwa wao.
Inanikumbusha siku moja rafiki yangu alikuwa akipata matibabu nchini China na madaktari wakamuuliza je nchini kwenu hakuna madaktari wa kumfanyia hii operation au hamna vifaa? Lilikuwa ni swali gumu sana kwangu ukizingatia gharama nchini China ni ghari sana ukilinganisha na nyumbani.
Naomba waziri wa afya na wizara husika ilifikirie kwa undani hili swala, kwani nilazima ifikie mahali mabo ya kuzoeleka tuyaache kabisa na tufanye vitu vyenye tija kwa taifa letu. Au mnataka hili nalo mpaka aje mwekezaji kutoka nje awaambie ndo mkumbuke kuwa uwezo mnao??

TAZARA UNDER INTESIVE CARE
“TAZARA UNDER INTENSIVE CARE”
Siku moja nilipokuwa nikifungua katika mtandao mmoja unaoitwa Wavuti na kukuta maada moja iliyokuwa ikielezea na kufananisha sisi watu wafrika hatujawahi kuvumbua (invention) ya kitu chochote, nilitafakari sana baada ya kupitia hoja za watu mbalimbali ambao pia walikubaliana nalo na kuongezea kuwa “sisi waafrika ni wazuri sana wa kuharibu vitu vilivyomalizwa tengenezwa” We are good at destroying rather than inventing and proper usage of what already made ..je ni kweli?
Ni wiki chache tu zimepita tuliposhuhudia viongozi wetu wa ngazi za juu kabisa mawaziri wa miundombinu,biashara na fedha wa Tanzania na Zambia kwa pamoja waliongozana kwenda Nchini China kuomba nchi hiyo iichukue (kushirikiana) na kuiongoza reli ya TAZARA baada ya kuwa juu ya mawe.
Inawezekana ukaona ni kitu cha kawaida tu, lakini kama ni mtu wa kufikiria zaidi kumbuka watu haohao wamewajengea reli tena ni kipindi China haijawa na nguvu kama ilivyo sasa ,bado baada ya miaka zaidi ya 40 ya Uhuru wana nchi yetu kweli tunaongozana kwenda kuomba “management” mmmmh hivi tatizo ni nini? Je ni kweli sisi ni waharibifu kama nilivyotangulia kusema? Nilitegemea baada ya kipindi hicho chote basi tungekuja na kujisifi kwamba tumefaidika vipi na TAZARA na mipango mizuri ya baadaye ,lakini cha kushangaza sasa Menejiment yote iko kwenye mawe ..mmh hii ni aibu kubwa ..mnakwenda kuomba msaada huku hata deni la zamani halijamaliza kulipwa , Hivi ninyi viongozi huwa hamuoni hata aibu mda mwingine ?? ? This is absolutely shameful to parade our weakness to the extent of calling in the Chinese to run Tazara. I cannot agree that out of nearly 70 million people in both Tanzania and Zambia there are no qualified professionals who can run Tazara professionally.
Ni bora viongozi wetu wakawa wazi zaidi kama kampuni halina tija wala faida kwa nchi je inahaja gani ya kuendelea kugharamia kitu kisichokuwa na faida?
Kuna maaeneo ya kuwekeza kwa wageni lakini sio mpaka hata maeneo nyeti ,bado hatujasahau kuwa tuna mgogoro na kampuni ya RITES kwa reli yetu ya Kati,Sioni umhimu wa wageni kuwekeza kwenye maeneo kama hayo.
Ni uchungu mkubwa sana na usioweza kuandikika hata kidogo ukifikiria mwongozo wanchi yetu kwani baada ya vitu kuendelea na kusitawi vitu vinachakaa na kukosa hadhi yeyote? Menejimenti nzima ya Tazara imejaa wizi mtupu kuanzia viongozi wake hadi hata askari polisi wanaosafirisha mizigo ndio wanaoshirikiana na wezi kupora mizigo na mafuta ya treni ,sasa nani atawalinda wezi? Inamaan sisi wenyewe kweli tumeshindwa kujiongoza wenyewe?? Tunataka mpaka Malaika wa Mbinguni washuke ili watuongoze? Basi tuombe ruhusu hata Raisi tuchague wa nje ya nchi ili atuongoze?? Kama wizi umejaa menejiment nzima je unategemea hata hao wachina watabadilisha nini??
Watanzania wenzangu ni wakati wa kubadilika kumbuka “nchi itajengwa na kusitawishwa na wazawa wenyewe” . Wawekezaji tunawahitaji sana lakini sio kwa kila kitu tutegemea wawekezaji…tutakuwa watumwa wa wawekezaji?
Kama ni pesa siwezi kulikubali hata kidogo ,kama Gavana anajenga nyumba ya 1.4bil gaharama ambayo ingetosha kujenga nyumba za kawaida zaidi ya 100 na wananchi wakaishi na kufaidi matunda ya nchi yao, leo pesa zote hizo zinafanyiwa anasa na mtu moja? Huu wote ni ulafi na ubinafsi mkubwa , ni wakati wa viongozi wa Kiatanzania kubadilika na kujali masilahi ya nchi zaidi ya wao wenyewe? Hata hao wachina mnaowakimbilia wamefikia hapo walipo ni kwa kujali masilahi ya nchi zaidi ndo maana sasa uchumi wao unaendelea kuneemeka tu hata katika kipindi hiki kigumu cha Mtikisiko wa Uchumu.
Ni huo huo ubinafsi wa viongozi wetu unaofanya kufanya mambo kisiasa zaidi katika kila kitu huku wakiona kanchi kanazidi kudidimia, msijidanganye kuangalia hivyo vikwangua jua dare s salaam basi mnasema Tanzania imeendelea ..tembea nje ya jiji na mikoani ndo utajua ni jinsi gani wananchi wanashida na wamejikatia tamaa na maisha ,kwani viongozi hawajui hayo???
Serikari kushindwa kuwatumia wasomi wananchi wake hilo ndo tatizo jingine kwani wanajali zaidi ulaji wao kuliko kujenga nchi , Hakika nchi haitaendela bila kuwa na mabadiliko ya kisayansi na utendaji maana mambo mengi yanafanywa kwa kufikirika zaidi ya vitendo. Wakati huo huo viongozi wako radhi kumpinga hata kumwangamiza yeyote msomi kama ataipinga serikari…..Ni wakati wa kuwatumia wasomi katika maamuzi yote…..Viongozi wetu wakumbuke siasa inanafasi yake na wanataaluma pia wananafasi yao, wala wasitegemee kuwa nchi itaendelea kama kila kitu kinafanywa kisiasa zaidi ya vitendo. Lazima ifikie kipindi serikari ijali na kuwatumia vizuri wasomi kwa ajiri ya maendeleo yetu ya leo na kesho.
Tupo nje na tunaona ni jinsi gani nchi za wenzetu zinavyotumia wasomi karibu kila kitu, na wasomi wanaheshiwa sana katika mawazo yao maana kila mara mwanasiasa hata kiongozi hata fanya kitu bila kupata au kuwasiliana na wasomi katika maeneo husika.
Tanzania inawezekana sana kuwa kama nchi za magharibi kwani kila kitu tunacho na uwezo upo kama tutafanya mambo kisayansi zaidi kuliko kisiasa zaidi.
Let us unite and build a livable place and better Tanzania.We learn from the past by looking forward for the future while living a charitable and caring for the present.

Lazima ifikie kipindi serikari ijali na kuwatumia vizuri wasomi kwa ajiri ya maendeleo yetu ya leo na kesho.
